Welcome

We're constantly bombarded with messages to eat healthier and exercise more, but what does that mean if you can't navigate the aisles of a grocery store, work your way around a kitchen, or can't afford to join a gym?

I invite you to consider the following:

  • How effective is your social justice campaign or advocacy group if the people you serve are dealing with food-related illnesses and diseases that keep them from actively participating?

  • How can organizations empower a community to foster collective change when they lack the resources to make change on a personal level?

  • How can organizations promote a culture of wellness and connect people to the resources they need to secure food access and healthy living habits?

Organization-based Community Wellness Programs have the power to directly impact and help their constituents make real, lasting changes in their lives.

Community Wellness Programs help participants establish an interdependence with each other based on shared goals, trust, respect, and ongoing support.

A Community Wellness Program can inspire participants to:

  • improve their eating habits

  • make choices that leave them satisfied, nourished, and healthy

  • choose food over drugs when it comes to managing allergies, asthma, diabetes, high blood pressure, weight, and other ailments

  • choose a way of living that is balanced, health-supportive, and most importantly, simple

  • achieve all of this in a supportive and loving environment

As a Whole Foods Nutrition & Community Wellness Advocate, I am committed to helping people live energized and passionate lives. Whatever the concerns are, my job is to help find which food and lifestyle choices will work best at both the community and individual level.

When diet changes, everything changes.

A true holistic approach to life incorporates things that nourish you other than food, including honest and open relationships, a meaningful spiritual practice, a career that inspires you, and physical activity that you enjoy. These elements are called Primary Food. When our Primary Food needs are met, we rely less on unhealthy foods and behaviors.

Could one conversation change the lives of the people you serve?

I look forward to helping your organization establish lasting health and wellness goals.

Be Well,

Melissa
